Sri Krishna Janamashtami is the day lord Sri Krishna was born and Vittla Pindi is the following Janmashtami. On the day of Janmashtami, Arghya Pradanam is done to remember Lord Sri Krishna. Vittlapindi is the day following Janmashtami and various sports are played with full enthusiasm in the Car Street of Udupi. Several wooden gopuras are erected and earthen pots containing milk and curd are hung from the top. A group of people from a specific race called Gollas break these pots - Mosaru Kudike. Another much seen art-form is Huli Vesha or Tiger Dance. People form groups and perform this art-form to express joy and also as an offering to Lord Sri Krishna on this auspicious day.
In a nutshell, this is day is celebrated with great joy and enthusiasm.
